Job offer Scam

Everyone knows there are low life ‘people’ around the world thinking themselves to be geniuses ready to scam their next victim. My spam blocker prevents majority of their emails from hitting my inbox but sometimes they do get through.

This morning I woke up to 5 emails from different hotmail addresses containing the following same message.

Greetings!
If you see this message this means that you have probably subscribed to mailing lists on one of the job portals.
We’ve found your email address in one of the mailing lists, and we are proud to offer you an employment within our company.

I received this ‘wonderful’ job offer from Charlotte Arndt <CyhruharlotteAryqndt@hotmail.com> – now seriously you’d think this international company expanding to Australia would actually have a proper email address and not use a free web-based Hotmail address.

What a professional email without the finishing “regards” or “yours sincerely” and if it wasnt for the name found in the “from” at the top how am I suppose to know who wrote this email.

Dear ‘no name from no name company’

Obviously, this is a typical scam, dont know what good my contact details would be for a scammer but mate your not getting it, Ive had my share of online scams and there is now way im going to let myself or those I know be your next victim.

Regards,

{WAHM venture} – Virtual Assistant

A virtual assistant a.k.a VA is a personal assistant or secretary working from home, and one of the most popular choice for any mum who wants to be a WAHM.

A VA doesnt require large overheads or equipments to begin, only requiring a reliable computer, internet connection, telephone line, fax headphones & webcam to  communicate with clients by telephone, email, online instant messaging, Skype.

The VA determines how much they should be paid per hour, usually between $15 – $60 depending on the experience & job required.

How can businesses benefit with a VA?

There are no overhead costs for businesses, Virtual Assistants are independent contractors so theres no superannuation, workers comp, leave or sick pay, or no equipment is required. Virtual Assistants pay their own benefits, expenses & overheads.

Why I didnt want to be a Virtual Assistant?

Virtual Assistants became popular about 5-6 years ago and at the time I didnt have enough resources or time to know where to begin.

It was said to be a popular Virtual Assistant you had to sign up to A Claytons Secretary, a site providing leads based on the assistants location and services. Im a sceptic when it comes to paying for a job im going to preform, so I decided to not sign up.

Now there are different lead providing Virtual Assistant sites, but I still dont feel comfortable signing up to them instead if I choose to become a virtual assistant I’ll focus on my local area businesses.

Get Started

  1.  Research  your local area & find out who is your competition
  2. Comply a list of services you are experienced at and can offer.
  3. Think of a catchy name for your business,
  4.  Register for an ABN ,
  5.  Register your business name (more professional & noone can take your name),
  6. Set your home office up – choose unlimited internet, & Skype for calls to limit your cost
  7. print some promotional materials from VistaPrint (cheaper & chic templates) – dont forget your flyers to hand out to businesses.
  8. A website is a must, you need to get your self out there on the virtual & real world.
  9. A blog is a good idea, with updated business related information for your clients to follow.
  10. Dont forget to come back here, let me know your new business so I can do a shout out to get you started.

Part 1 of become a WAHM – O.R.G.A.N.I.S.A.T.I.O.N!!

Most of you know I want and need to earn money from home, hubby and I agreed I’ll be home with the kids while he works but its come to a point I need to start bringing in money to pay for some of our expenses.

Im not after a 4 or 5 figure amount a month business opportunity (if there is one) no I would love to open my small business from home using my computer & internet.

I already have my notepad & pen ready to take notes and maybe brainstorm some kind of genius idea but really before I could start I need to declutter my study and organise my life.

Let me show you what I mean – and super organised mums out there you better be sitting before you look at the following photos.

Call it what you’d like my desk…..work station…..dumping area…..where I would love to work from,.,….

My TO DO ironing pile, which I could swear its growing by the minute and not by week – I always promise to do my ironing weekly, BUT I seem to ‘forget’!

This desk was placed in the study as my daughters homework corner, but each time she tried to do her homework her brother and sister wanted to do homework too, its a small room the 4 of us just didnt fit. Now the pile under it are clothes (which have been there for about 2-3 months) I would like to sell, the books ontop are either to be sold or returned to their owners.

Once I get around to selling everything im planning to throw this desk out.

This WAS the craft cupboard, but as I became more focused on keeping the house clean the kids took charge of everything and basically either dumped everything back in there or just threw it out – so really its sort of waste of space.

This is the most pathetic excuse for bookshelf, the shelves are either crooked, missing a support screw or missing. If I replaced this bookshelf with a decent cupboard or bookshelf, which could also hold a few craft stuff then I can gladly throw the above cupboard out.

My multitasking ironing table, not only do I do my “weekly”  ironing but where I use to organise paperwork.

This is my recycling bin corner, it may seem like a good idea to most to throw them out daily but I somehow get side track.

This week Im going to organise this room, slowly but gradually – im going to catch up on my filing & bills and this room is going to be clutter free….(fingers crossed)

You say wahm, I say mumprenuer …

About 8 years ago I quit my paralegal and parttime bookkeeping jobs to become a SAHM.

When Hip was 2, I really understood what a WAHM was and thought cool a sahm working and earning money from home…… I want I want….

Unfortunately months of researching, investing some $$$$ and sleepless nights turned into years and still no brilliant idea or magical $3000 per month.

When Chic was 2 I gave up on the idea of becoming a successful WAHM. I thought maybe having a successful creative business idea isn’t for everyone – especially not me!!!!

So here I am with my trusted laptop, pen, notepad & coffee ready and more determine to become a WAHM.

Are you a WAHM or SAHM? Did you create your product or invest in a business opportunity ?

Make and Sell your own Kids Hair bows & Accessories.

I love these colourful hair bows and if I was a little creative I would have a different hair bow/clip to match each of my girls outfit. I always wondered how they got the ribbons to curl and stay that way, I thought maybe a ‘hair bow curler’ machine but infact its just 20 minutes in the oven! lol.

Now you can design and sell your own handmade hairboows, here are a few tutorials I came across to help you get inspired and start curling. -
